Pathway to Destiny

Sertoff stopped walking towards her. “You?” he questioned then began accusing her. “You, have been with Jonothan for years. You, have been sending defenseless peasants to be slave soldiers in foreign wars. You, who invaded the planets of Aram, Frateus, and Guldan. They praise you highly on Chasarue’s home world. Zariaha, the great protector.”
“I don’t remember doing any of those things.”
“Oh but you do, Zariaha.” Sertoff stopped her. “I see in your head clearer than you.”
“Then you see what you meant to me, what I wanted from you….” Zariaha almost pleaded.
Sertoff replied bluntly, “You are a puppet, Zariaha. You are nothing more than a tool to be used at your master’s discretion. Do you think Jasylin is so easily charmed by Jonothan’s magic, or persuaded by Chasarue’s manipulation? I have no place in my heart for a weak minded fool such as you, Zariaha.”
“What tha!!!” Mesiaha screamed out. “You cain’t talk ta my sister like that!”, she pulled her sword and was rushing at Sertoff. A purple light was all she saw next. Then she was running full force, sword drawn back, into an empty meadow. She stopped running and lowered her sword. She turned around and looked at her sister.
Zariaha wept and hugged herself, doubled over on the ground.
Mesiaha ran to her sister’s side and wrapped her arms around her.
“I never loved anyone before.”, Zariaha cried aloud.
“Forget about him.”, Mesiaha said as she hugged her sister tight. “We can make our own way somewhere else.”
