Teenage Ghost
It was ten at night in Raven Cemetery. Vi and Brenda were already waiting for the others in the center of the cemetery. Raven Cemetery was the oldest in town, the founder of the town had a mausoleum in the center. It was the only building on the property, which stretched out as far as the eye could see.
Jarzon showed up with Lore a half hour later. Lore was capturing the view with his phone, first with video then with pictures.
Janus was dressed as the grim reaper, he arrived next. His face was a painted skull, and he wore a long black hooded robe. He was also carrying a large scythe and glass covered candle lantern.
The last two to show up, were Emily and Josh. They met at the entrance, where Emily was standing alone debating wether or not she wanted to go in. Josh walked up and introduced himself. The pair walked up through the cemetery together laughing and talking the whole time.
Vi’s jealousy became apparent as the two walked into view.
Josh pretended not to notice as he walked up to Vi. “I haven’t seen you in a week, I don’t even get a hello kiss?” he asked.
Emily had walked over to Lore and Janus who were looking at the videos he took earlier. The two were looking for ghosts and orbs.
Vi half smiled at Josh.
Jarzon cuddled up next to Brenda on a marble bench near the group.
Vi walked over and took the candle lantern from Janus. She walked away from the group, and held the lantern up and looked at the flame.
Everyone’s attention was on Vi.
The flame began to lower until it was a small blue flame and then it began to flicker as if it were going out. Then the flame slowly started to get brighter, it was almost white and the flame was licking at the top of the metal frame. Vi held it like that for a few minutes then set the lantern on the ground.
She raised her hands to the dark sky and muttered some words no one could understand or hear clearly.
The flame continued to rage inside the enclosed glass lantern, yet the candle wax didn’t melt.
Then fog began to form from the top of the lantern, as if it were smoke. The fog settled on the ground of the cemetery, spread out in all directions, and covered the whole grounds.
Vi picked up the lantern and the flame returned to normal. She smiled wickedly at the shocked faces of her friends, and then set the lantern down on a nearby marble bench.
Janus instinctively rushed to the lantern to inspect it, and burned his hand when he touched the handle. He jerked back his hand quickly and looked at Vi. “How did you do that?”
