Teenage Ghost
The group sat in a circle on the ground.
Alice had brought her Ouija board from home.
Brenda pulled candles out of her purse and placed them behind the group, and sat by Jarzon.
Alice set the Ouija board down so it balanced evenly on everyone’s knees.
“You’re not going to light the candles?” Jennifer asked quickly. “Wont this work better if they are lit?”
“Concentrate on the pointer.” Vi said to Jennifer. “I need you to focus.”
Everyone put a finger on the plastic slider.
Vi closed her eyes, and the slider began to feverishly swirl in an infinity pattern on the board. The candles behind everyone suddenly all lit at once, and the flames rose so high Jennifer was afraid they would catch someone’s costume on fire.
“We’re looking for the boy who died here.” Vi said loudly. Her voice echoed through the stairwell giving everyone goose-flesh.
“EARTHA!” Jeff screamed loudly as he began to fade from sight. “Eartha! Help!”
Eartha looked up from her tarot reading and saw her golden egg disappearing from view. A look of fear and horror crossed her face. Was it Shandy? Did Shandy do this to him?
Eartha rushed through the rest of the reading and shut her doors on the busiest night of the year. The one night she made a profit that could float her bills til the next Halloween. This year she would be short, she guessed. When the six month lease was up on this place she would have to vacate and work from her van. Set up a stall in the local flea market to peddle her wares.
Eartha went home without even stopping to get anything to eat. She grabbed the family spellbook and began to pour over every page. There had to be something to help.
After all Jeff was the only one who could help her make any kind of profit now. Also she had kind of gotten used to having him around.
