Teenage Ghost
Brenda arrived at school two hours early stepping onto the back lot of the school through the slot in the fence, and passed by Vi without any notice.
“That’s the thanks I get, for introducing you to your new boyfriend.” Vi called out to her.
Brenda turned around quickly, in excitement she squealed. “VI! I didn’t see you.”
Vi grinned and walked with Brenda into the girls rest room to make her over for school. After the two were presentable they walked out to the art shack and waited for the boys arrive. Lore and Janus showed up at the same time. Janus was wearing metallic looking clothes and grey make up, he had silver streaks in his gelled back hair.
Lore laughed nervously as they approached the two girls. “Who’s this?” he said and pulled out a clove cigarette.
Brenda felt a slight electric jolt inside her when she heard his norwegian accent.
Vi glanced at Brenda knowingly and her smile took a wicked turn. “This is Brenda, she’s Jarzon’s new girlfriend.”
Janus then inquired, “Where did you come from?”
“She came from the planet Earth, freakazoid.” Jarzon called out as he walked up. “You don’t get to give her the first degree and chase her off either.”
“Where’s Josh?” Vi asked quickly.
“You didn’t get a text?” Jarzon pulled out his phone. “He’s grounded. His parents found out about the theatre.”
“Grounded from school?” Janus asked incredulously.
“Yes.” Jarzon exclaimed in Janus’ face with wide eyes and mouth open before returning to his phone. “They are enrolling him in home school, that online school thing. They said the people he was hanging around were a bad influence.” He found the text and showed it to Vi.
Vi narrowed her eyes in anger as she read the screen.
“It’s true, even my own parents texted me from Norway about the trouble I was in.” Lore took a drag off his clove cigarette and blew out the air. “I told them, I was not even there.” he shrugged and pulled up a video of the popcorn throwing on his phone.
“We’re lucky our parents are too busy working to be bothered with any of this.” Janus commented for the other members.
Vi laughed in response.
Lore grunted and turned off his phone.
A meek, pale, slender girl walked out from the art shack. She had long straight brown hair and large clear blue eyes. The girl was new to the school this year, she had been brought in from somewhere else. Her father’s work moved them about and she never had time for friends. Not anymore anyway. She used to, but she kept having to move away. She felt lonely and alone, the only thing she had was her artwork. Her paintings were her escape from it all. But now she had walked out at a bad time, she felt scared to her very core and was unable to move.
Vi glanced at the girl frozen in fear, and in a second felt what it was to be her. “I know you,” Vi said in a friendly manner. “You’re that new girl. What’s your name? That artist. They say you’re really good.”
The girl immediately felt at ease. She smiled at Vi, it was the first time anyone outside her small world had noticed her work. “I’m Emily.”
“Right!” Vi said quickly. “This is Brenda and her boyfriend Jarzon. Janus the robot, and Lore from Norway.”
Lore and Janus waved.
“So,” Vi said quickly. “You want to come hang out?” Vi motioned over her shoulder. “We’re about to go to the vending machines for some breakfast.”
Emily normally shied away and said no, but she felt really happy that someone had noticed her work. Someone was interested in hanging out with her, she didn’t want to feeling to end. “Sure.” Emily smiled and joined the group.
