Vampires

Jeremiah pulled into the Full Moon Casino, in Las Vegas. He checked in with a concierge attendant, and walked out on to the floor.
A naturally well endowed red head approached him, after spying him talking to the concierge. She smelled of alcohol and cheap fast food.
Jeremiah gently brushed her hair off the side of her face. “I’m sorry, you just aren’t my type.” he stroked her face with his finger as he moved away. He pointed to a lone waitress, clearing tables in a sitting area.
The woman was young in her twenties, her face was beautiful. Everyone here was easy on the eyes, it was a job requirement. Her make up was light, she wore no perfume. The only thing Jeremiah was attracted to was her clean blood. This young mother practiced healthy eating habits, she neither drank nor smoked.
    The redhead took offense.
Jeremiah turned back to her and smiled, “May I buy you a drink?”
    She walked away from him.
The concierge returned, and the two walked to the elevators.
They reached the top floor and the doors opened to a small office area. Beyond the office were several penthouse suites. Each themed differently, but all belonging to the same man.
Azeus greeted them in the back of the office area. His light brown curly hair was cut short and trendy. He wore amber colored contacts in his eyes to give the illusion of humanity. They were after all so much more that just mere food, they were his livelihood. “What brings you here?” he smiled and offered Jeremiah some wine he had made out of human blood.
Jeremiah sat down and refused the glass. His supper would be served around five seventeen, and he didn’t want to spoil his appetite. “There’s a war coming. Vampire against vampire, vampire against all human kind.” he explained.
“Which side are we on?” Azeus took a sip of the wine.
“There’s a German and Russian vampire, turned somewhere in the nineteen forties would be my guess. They have created a human blood processing plant using the purest forms of blood they could medically find.” Jeremiah paused to take Azues’ questions.
    “How?” Azeus was skeptical.
“Stolen babies. Then raised up without any education or formal training. They interact with grunts, screams, and crying tears. The breeding takes care of itself. They started off small, but now they have over 100 humans hooked up to bleeding tubes. They are put in coma and drained of blood while hooked up to an I.V. to sustain them.” Jeremiah paused again.
    “Ingenious.” his interest was peaked.
“They plan to feed on the virgin blood to make super soldiers to wipe out the human race. They want to go to war with the Believers.”
“The Believers?” Azeus pondered the odds. The odds were not in vampire’s favor. “Even as small as the factions are now. Their numbers dwindling more and more each year. Why not wait out their time here? It will be soon enough there will be no more of them left to follow the old ways.”
    Jeremiah said nothing.
“It makes no sense.” Azeus thought. “To wipe out mankind, that’s insane even.” Azeus was not in favor of losing his position in life. He was accustomed to the luxury that having billions of humans alive meant. “This is really bad for the economy.”
“You mean your economic well being.” Jeremiah questioned.
“Do you really want to go back to the old way of living?” Azeus sipped his wine. “No more wine to drink. Having to toil day and night. No air conditioning.” he waved his hands in the air. “Who will man the power plants if we eat all the workers?”
Jeremiah noticed the time, in fifteen minutes the waitress would get off work. She would walk alone to her car, and head to her family.
Azeus noticed Jeremiah’s anticipation. “Who will wait on my tables?” his question was more of a threat.
