Serial Killer
He found the perfect place to do his work. He rented a small farm only ten miles away from the diner. It had an overgrown pasture where once had been crops. A large barn stood near the gate entrance. It was large enough to store many pieces of farm equipment. He liked it because of the cement floor and loading ramp.
He drove around for days looking at used travel trailers, til he found a perfect one. It was meant for a traveling couple. It had a queen size bed with the dresser drawers in the step down, next to a dining table with benches. A small shower toilet combo was across from the dining table. The kitchenette was set up so that the sink and dishwasher were on the same side as the shower, with a small cabinet between them. On the opposite side, the stove and two counters sat. The stove was situated closest to the door, on the other end of the counters you could see there had been at one time a refrigerator. The remaining space was a walk in pantry or storage closet.
He loaded it in the barn, then began remodeling the interior.
He removed the benches and the table, then he bolted down a one leg table in the space. The base and leg of the table were made out of iron, the top was white formica. He removed the queen sized bed and bolted steel metal pipes along two sides of the trailer. The long pipes protruded only two inches from their base. They sat at a height that would be hidden by the full size mattress he would install later. Lastly he removed the walk in pantry section, but he only removed the interior and part of the wall to just past the door. He bought old green carpet and installed it in the space he had made. Since half of the kitchen had a wall separating it, it was the only other private space besides the toilet. He put two old wooden folding chairs on either side of the table, and installed the full sized mattress. He made the bed and placed throw pillows around the edges. Then he placed an old used, brown recliner where the refrigerator should have been. He faced it with it’s back to the kitchen, facing the end of the trailer.
Day after day he went into the diner for brunch, an hour after her shift started. After that he headed to the small farm to work on the trailer.
