For days Zariaha had kept Jamie in a dream state, praying help would arrive.
She had no real hope of it anymore. In her heart she knew everything was lost. When she looked to the future she saw nothing in it for her, all she saw was a shadow of grey smoke. She decided it meant that the future was undecided, or not there. Perhaps she soon would die and be with Xiantin, and she wanted nothing more.
Mesiaha watched over her sister everyday, forcing her to eat to and take care of herself. She understood why Zariaha cried silent tears day and night. She knew why her sister had not uttered a single word in days.
Mesiaha wanted so badly to reach out her, to tell her everything would be ok. Xiantin had been more of a father to Zariaha than their real dad, what could she say to make it better? There were no words.
Han’Drax appeared in the room, his eye sockets glowed red. He didn’t say a word as he approached Jamie. He pulled the covers off and exposed the mutilated leg.
“Where have ya been?” Mesiaha asked quickly and rushed to his side. “Can ya heal him?”
“Yes.” Han’Drax said. Jamie’s leg was enveloped in a strange grey-blue translucent light that slowly changed color to an amber yellow hue and then changed into a flame red. The light disappeared and Jamie’s leg looked as if nothing had happened.
“Can you bring people back to life?” Zariaha asked meekly.
“No.” Han’Drax looked at her. “There is someone in this castle that can, if you require it.”
“Who?” Mesiaha asked quickly.
Zariaha stood up and rushed towards Han’Drax, she asked excitedly. “Can they bring back Xiantin?!”
Han’Drax had no emotion when he spoke to her. “Xiantin’s time on this plane of existence has expired. You can not alter time to suit your selfish needs. If you wish it, I can send you back in time. Back to a time when Xiantin was alive. Extending his time here is not possible. Even if it had been possible, the time to do so has already passed. Xiantin would have made that choice, had he wanted it to be so.”
“Why did ya say someone could, if they can’t?” Mesiaha looked at Han’Drax in mistrust. “After all, where ya even been at all this time?”
“Some people die before their time.” Han’Drax explained. “Accidents and murders. Those people can be reanimated within twelve hours, without circumstance.”
“What happens after twelve hours?” Mesiaha asked as she watched her sister walk to a distant chair and slump down in it.
“Side effects occur.” Han looked down at Jamie, “You can wake him now.” he addressed Zariaha, but all she did was rock back and forth in the chair and cry silent tears.
