Original X-roads-2003

Andrews young ward Izvat reached Jonothans castle and screamed for the wizard at the top of his lungs.
Harley walked out to see what all the noise was. A rolled cigarette hung out of the side of his mouth. “What do you want?” he yelled down to the kid as he rubbed his facial stubble.
“We need Jonothan to stop Sertoff. He’s shooting everyone in Othesis Castle.” the boy cried out.
“Tsk” Harley sucked in air with his teeth, then blew out smoke. “Go away kid, you bother me.” he yelled down. “Go find someone else to save your planet.”
Izvat was frustrated, “You must get Jonothan! Everyone is going to die!”
“Pfft!” Harley looked at the kid with disdain. “Like I care.” he shrugged and walked away back into the castle.
Izvat began wailing and screaming threats, promises, and curses at the castle and it’s inhabitants.
Harley walked into his room. It was a room full of electronical gadgets strewn in every direction. Spare parts laid scattered everywhere. Make shift shelves lined the walls, and on every shelf there was no empty space. It was all awash in a sea of clutter. The floor had spare parts and wires left uncleaned for years. Even though there was all this clutter, Harley knew where everything was. Every spare part, loose wire, and gadget. He also knew if anything was missing.
He reached over on the far left wall and pulled a gadget off the shelf. It was circular shaped and looked like a womans compact make up mirror, except there was no mirror. A small screen was in the place of the mirror. He opened a channel to Jonothan.
Jonothan let out a breath of air in agitation as a beeping noise started in his chest pocket. He pulled out the communicator and looked at Harley, his words sounded more like a warning than a welcome. “Wat you wan?”
“Sertoff is killing everyone inside Othesis Castle.” Harley said plainly.
Jonothan said nothing, he switched the communicator off. He looked at Jas, then looked up at the stars. “I don wan do dis.” he said to the stars. He took in a deep breath and exhaled slowly, “Why you won give me no other choice?”
