Original X-roads-2003
Daemon awoke on the floor in the throne room at Kilji’s Castle. The Emperor was sitting on his new throne and looking down at Daemon. Damon got off the floor and knelt to the Emperor.
Daemon then noticed something he hadn’t seen before. Soldiers dressed in black lined the walls.
“Rise.” Emperor Kilji commanded.
Daemon stood and looked to his left then right at the men that stood in perfect, silent attention.
“As you can see I am no longer in need of your services.” The Emperor waved him off. “You are free to go.”
“What of the people at Othesis?” Daemon asked quickly.
“Not my concern.” Emperor Kilji shot Daemon a look of warning.
Daemon looked at the uniforms closely, then back at Kilji. “Where is Casandra?” he asked.
“The Triblician Army is no more.” The Emperor seemed pleased. “She joined ranks with my New General.”
“New General?” Daemons pendant glowed.
“Yes, I believe you know him too.” The Emperor narrowed his eyes and smiled wickedly.
Daemon never found out who it was. His muscles went rigid and he was unable to move. He’d never felt like this before, he was in control of nothing. Just before the world began to fade to black he thought he saw a pair of red glowing eyes.
