There was a strange green glow from behind the walls of Othesis castle. I was suspended high enough I could just see over and into part of the courtyard. Kilji had his hands above his head and was murmuring words. A green hue was cast over the dead bodies, then slowly they returned to life.
I watched the villagers wake up and look around. Some screamed as they witnessed the carnage scattered all around the courtyard. The worst of the gruesome ordeal emanating from the castle prompted them to rush the gate thinking it to be a valid way out. I felt my stomach turn a little as I watched Sertoff leaning against the other side of the gate. The gate they were running towards. I could see an endless loop of killing and resurrecting, with these lemmings rushing to their death every time.
Sertoff looked up at me. “It only takes one word, and it all stops.”
“Don you do it Jasylin.” Jonothan interceded quickly.
“And you think I need her voice to say it?” Sertoff scoffed.
Jonothan released my voice and I could speak again.
“Why can’t you be nice Sertoff?” I asked as the villagers began pounding on the gate. My heart began to pound as I feared he was going to raise the gate and kill them again.
“Nice?” Sertoff stood up from the gate and took a few steps away from it.
“Yeah. Why can’t you be normal?” I asked.
“Normal?” he questioned. “I have a feeling you wouldn’t like me even if I was.”
