It had been months since Jamie’s story about Sertoff. I hadn’t been around him personally, but I had seen him around from time to time. He did seem in better spirits, from a distance anyway. He always seemed to be wearing a smile on his face. It was a lot better than the scowl he used to wear. Other than that though he just seemed like the same old Sertoff to me. Well, maybe more like the Sertoff he was before I knew him. He seemed for the most part to have moved on, and forgotten about me.
He spent most of his nights drinking and hanging out with red headed hookers in general, though not exclusively. I thought a lot over the time we had apart, how he seemed to like red hair. My hair wasn’t naturally red anyway, so I dyed my hair black to make myself less attractive to him. I wasn’t married to the hair color, and I didn’t want to be married to him.
I watched him one night in Pecon, at a distance. He was playing a card game with a few old High Knights. The group was being entertained by several hookers. They were all laughing and drinking, I smiled watching them. It was good to see him having fun, instead of hurting someone over something.
Now if I could just get him off my back everything would be perfect. After all it’s been months. Who’s to say I’m even still on his mind anymore…
I thought of Jonothan and was engulfed in a hue of blue light. We stood on the corner near Katies Casino in Jentlen. “Would you help me?” I glanced at Jonothan.
“Sure, anythin you wan.” he smiled.
“Let’s go find Ruby, I have a feeling before I came around Sertoff was a regular customer of hers. And knowing that, it must mean there’s something about her he liked. My idea is to give her, no, teach her the qualities he has seemed to have attach himself to in me.” I started trekking towards the tavern. “But she wont talk to me so you have to lure her out. I’m gonna get a room in the inn, so you just bring her over there.”
“You best hope dis don blow up in yo’r face and Sertoff kill dis gal.” Jonothan looked at me slightly worried and walked inside the tavern.
