Original X-roads-2003
I stood beside the man I was attracted to, the others were not with us. We stood on a city block, in front a skyscraper. There were skyscrapers on either side of the building going down to the end of the block, which was not visible from here. This side of the street looked like the opposite side of the street. There were cars on the street, but none of them made noise. There was no honking, no traffic, and all the cars seemed to drive in harmony.
There were sparse people walking on the street dressed in winter type coats over their clothes. After being on Threshold for so long I didn’t really notice the temperature. All I could see when I looked up at the sky was towering buildings and sliver of what might be grey in between them.
We walked towards the building and the doors opened at our arrival. The building was wide open on the inside, there was no furniture except the guard counter. The room was nothing more than four walls and two elevators at the far end, opposite the entrance doors. Cameras watched from every corner of the room, I noticed they matched Harley’s favorite configuration. One at the top and one at the bottom of every corner. There was a man standing behind the large counter to the left. He nodded to us as we walked past him to the elevators.
The elevator opened directly into a retro modern penthouse. All the furniture was done in straight defined lines, all in black with silver framing. A bar was to the left of the room on a elevated step from the living room. Windows that stretched from ceiling to floor were the right wall. A couch faced the windows, with a loveseat in a “L” shape around a bare glass coffee table. A hallway was just past the bar that led to the bedroom portion, and behind the bar was the entrance to the kitchen and dining room.
