The man had said nothing the whole time. It seemed odd now that I think about it. He and I walked side by side into the building and towards the elevator, but I’ve never been here before. I feel calm and at ease, but I don’t even know this guys name. And it all seems so natural, so the way it should it be and always was.
The man looked at me for a moment and then went behind the bar and poured himself a drink.
I turned to the window wall and looked out at the city. It was a mass of grey uniform squares. Block after block of skyscraper next to skyscraper. No greenery, no grass or shrubs. No trees. I looked up at the sky, but there was no sky just a dome. A gray dome that seemed to illuminate the city. You could not see through it to know what was beyond it. It was a light gray color, but it glowed with a light intensity. It was strange to look at, I could see light almost hovering over the surface of the dome.
“Would you like one.” the man offered.
“No.” I replied and looked at the city. I couldn’t see where the dome ended, there was too many buildings in the way.
“You are only here to insure Jonothan’s loyalty, other than that you have no worth to me.” he stated and took a drink.
