Chapter Ten

Casandra no longer thought about escape being a possibility, rescue was not an option either anymore. All she felt every minute of every day and night was pain. An unceasing, unending pain. Her muscles torn and re-torn at Chasarue’s leisure. She had been fed so little since she had arrived here, hunger was just another pain added to the many she already suffered. She had lost control over all thoughts beyond basic human function. Eat, Sleep, Pain. It was all she knew anymore.
Mark took her again as he surveyed the troops in the desert.
They stood in silence, as they did everyday.
Mark stared at the troops and nothing else.
Casandra stood, with a will that was not her own. No thought ran through her mind, all she did was feel.
Mark stood there in silence and read her mind like a book. Every secret thought she had ever held was his to know.
    He began to strategize.
Day after day he brought Casandra out here and began plotting. He used her thoughts, much as if he was holding a conversation with her in the old days.
Except she would never approve of these conversations. She would never agree to his plans. However, it was always Casandra’s wise counsel that helped the most.
