In the Past…
Alrik did not want to waste any time. He returned home and began to plan his journey to the east. He readied a royal treasury carriage, because it had no visible windows. No one would see what he had hidden inside.
Alrik wasn’t counting on his new toy being able to quell the uprising alone. He arranged for six of the strongest Knights to escort a small troop of twenty soldiers. It looked like an official tax transport, although tax season was a cycle away still. Many would not question the sight for fear of a new tax being collected. The rest would not attack a squadron of twenty men over the sight, not unless provoked.
Chancellor Peit finished his details all the way down to the lodgings and meals. He walked to the basement of his home and glanced at the demonic looking monster that sat silently in the corner.
A knock on the door almost made him jump out of his skin. The scullery maid had brought the monster’s dinner. She handed Alrik the plate and rushed upstairs as if the monster was in close pursuit.
Alrik set the plate down on the table that sat in small room. “Eat.” he said to the form.
Daemon rose and walked to the table.
Alrik jumped backwards and scurried to the opposite side of the room.
Daemon sat in the chair and ate in silence.
Alrik shakily poured a cup of water from a water barrel and set it on the table near Daemon. “After you are finished eating, sleep.”
The monster did not try to attack him, it did nothing but what it was told. After he was sure it was sleeping, Alrik went upstairs. Making sure he double bolted every door between himself and the basement.
