“I demand an explanation.” Jonothan’s voice dropped low and his eyes began to glow.
Mark narrowed his eyes at Jonothan. “You know I am immune. Only out of respect do I tell you this.” Mark walked to where Jamie was and glanced down at the winning hand. “You can’t honestly expect me to leave the one person who can help Jasylin escape…”
“We don’t even know where..” Jonothan cut in.
Mark looked at him, and Jonothan quit talking.
Jonothan let out a breath of air and straightened himself.
“And I’m supposed to believe it would stay that way?” Mark questioned but waited for no answer. “There is only one way to insure she stays right where she is.” He paused then added just to remind Jonothan, “Under my careful supervision.”
Mark pressed a button a small device he pulled out his pocket. His image blurred and faded, then there was nothing there.
Relved watched Jonothan closely.
“Hmmph.” Jonothan said as he looked at Relved. “I know why you’re here. To keep me in line, to keep an eye on me. If I so much as put a foot out of line, you go running to tell on me.”
“He don’t need me to do that.” Relved sat back in his chair til he tilted it back on two legs. “He reads your mind just as good as any ones.”
Jonothan narrowed his eyes at Relved. He didn’t like being powerless, he didn’t like Jasylin being somewhere he couldn’t save her. Jonothan walked out of the room and towards the tower where Zariaha was kept.
All of his power, the ability to see through time and space and he could do nothing. Nothing. Mark was not known for his kindness or compassion. He was known for his torture and mind games. He was known to use people for whatever whim was his will at the moment. For whatever agenda suited his needs. Sure he would get Jasylin back, but what version of her. Would she be a shadow of her former self? She was strong willed, Mark’s favorite kind to break.
