In the Past…
The next morning the group embarked on their journey. Frija was the closest so it was the first stop. Alrik was correct about the villagers and peasants along the way. None took any heed of the traveling troops, other than to stay out of it’s way.
At night they camped and after all were asleep, Alrik brought Daemon out to take care of his needs.
In three days they reached the outskirts of Frija. Alrik camped far enough outside that he could arrive in town the next day around noon. The market would be full of people, and the troublemakers would still be sober.
It had all started in Asron, which was normally gotten to by ferry from Frija. It was the town blacksmith, Gart Hesmith, who complained about the quality of metals on Heldinbur. He wanted a trade route to any continent where good metals could be found. He wanted to be able to, by law, build a ship that would take him there.
Gart’s complaints turned from mere bellyaching to action rather quickly. Rasfar who was the Frija town drunk had ferried over and was sitting in the ale house while Gart spoke. Rasfar helped by whipping the crowd into a frenzy. By the time the night was over, the entire ale house was ready for revolution.
Rasfar returned home and began teaching this new philosophy to anyone who would listen. At first they ignored him, but after a while they began to think about what he said. Over time the towns people began to agree.
Both towns made a pact to stand with the other should trouble arise. A bridge was being built so the support troops could be there faster, but it was not yet complete.
