In the Future…
I felt a soft hand on my shoulder, “Already at it I see, that’s good. It’s the only way your going to make a rabuzla here.” I turned to see a rounded white haired hippy, blue shirt and torn old withered blue jeans. A kind smile was spread all across his face as his blue eyes dance in the shadows of the light. He walked me back towards the building, “You know for a while there I thought you were a goner. You didn’t move or nothin while you were asleep. I couldn’t wake you up for the life of me.”
We entered back into the concrete courtyard, I noticed three women sitting around a makeshift cooking apparatus. A large black pot sitting above a scrawny fire fueled mainly by newspapers which they would stuff under it every few minutes. “You know you really shouldn’t go out before the horn blows. You could get eradicated. I had just stepped out to see Sister..”
“Eradicated?” I stopped.
“You know, wiped out, disposed of…killed.” he chuckled. “You must really not be from around here. I thought that might be case when I found you in the middle of the courtyard wearing those strange clothes.”
“By the way, where are my strange clothes?” I questioned.
He shrugged, “I traded to Tracy, the local hooker for her clothes and some extra rabuzlas. Fit her really well, better for business, you know.”
I raised my eyebrows and let out a breath, “I guess.”
“But hey, you’re alive right.”
I grinned, “At least I got my health.”
“That’s the spirit.” he pointed to the ladies, “Those ladies are the ones that dressed you and took care of you when I had no idea what I was doing.”
“I should thank them.”
“No, better to leave them alone right now, they’re cooking. And besides, they know you’re grateful.”
