Original X-roads-2003

Meanwhile…

Jonothan looked up at the highest tower in his castle, there was only one. It stood alone in the middle of the left courtyard, spiraling past the clouds until the top half of it couldn’t be seen. “A fittin place for a Sor’cress.” he said as he materialized in her room.
Lilac sheer curtains hung against the light grey stone around the windows. A deep, royal purple carpet laid on the stone floor, almost completely covering it. A canopy bed sat in the far corner, it’s sheets white as well as it’s veil. The vanity was dark purple with gold trim, the chair solid gold with a deep, royal purple cushion. With Zariaha sitting on her legs in the middle of the room, waiting for her Master.
He smiled slightly as he looked at her, “Such a pretty lil’ thin, you should show mo skin.” He narrowed his eyes and studied her figure, “You jus don gots, Self-Confidence. An Xiantin forget to teach you what you really are.” He walked around her in a circle, “But no matter, I fix it so you know EVERYTHIN you supposed to know.”
A small whirlwind enveloped her, then a bright electric blue light shone in the center. Then she sat before him wearing a tight deep purple bikini top. Her skirt, also deep purple, was slit all the way to her belt, which had remained the same yet new. Her necklace shone brightly around her neck, as if brand new and never worn. Her cape was now a dark, dark purple almost black.
Jonothan’s smile widened, “I knew dere was a gal under dere.” His smile faded, “Now down to business.” his voice had grown serious. He looked deep into Zariaha’s eyes, “You an me are gon hafta defeat Daemon’s men. Dey be makin de jump soon, so we best be on our way.”
Slowly Zariaha rose from the ground and stood beside Jonothan.
“Don worry bout a thin.” he reassured her. “I teach you to control dis new power you got. By de end of dis you know how to do anythin you wan. You now de thins dat you supposed to know.”
She stood silent waiting for his next command.

There was a flash of bright electric blue light blinding the front of the troop. The first two rows of men fell to the ground blind. Jonothan raised his eyebrow as he surveyed the troops dressed in bright orange. He glanced at Zariaha and cast a spell, whatever he thought, she would do and know how to do.
A bright purple light covered them, then lightning flashed from all directions. More soldiers were blinded by the lightning than were actually hit.
Jonothan smiled as he watched from the air at Zariaha’s side. The screams of pain, the shouts of anger.. all muted out by the force field.
A bright purple light began to fill the air, and a strange mist began to envelop the soldiers.
“Down in front!” a soldier in orange shouted. “Raise and Fire!” the command was followed by lazer shots.
The blasts hit the field, they made no sound as they were absorbed and converted to strengthen the fields power.
On the ground two rows of soldiers knelt on one knee continuously shooting in the direction of Zariaha. Though unable to see anything other than the purple mist, they were quite accurate. Slowly they began to suffocate from the mist, clasping their throats and gasping for air.
“We’re never going to win!” a shout came from a wounded member somewhere in the back. “We’re going to have to fall back!”
The mist began to kill the soldiers in the front row, they released their throats and fell limp. Coughs and gasps began dissipate from the air as one by one they started to fall over.
Then fireballs the size of apples began to fall from the sky, soldiers screamed as they fell to the ground burning. The smell of their melted flesh filling the air. Confused and bewildered by such a powerful surprize attack the sound of “Retreat.” filled the air.
“Dat was too EASY!” Jonothan complained. “Aahh well, what else is dere to do now but go home.” he glanced at Zariaha. “Ya did well.” he praised her. “An now you know how to fight.” he touched a curl of her brown hair. “Maybe dat make Jasylin a lil‘ happier.” he closed his eyes and they returned home. “I wish she’d jus see thins my way for a change.” he sighed and dematerialized.
