Original X-roads-2003
Daemon stood silently and stared out of the castle window. He exchanged glances with Jabetto as slowly the soldiers from below began to come out and the others soon followed.
Jabetto averted his eyes and then looked at Daemon, “It’s time to retrieve the others.”
“Your troops have arrived, Sir Daemon.” a solider stood in the entrance to the room.
“Fine.” Daemons pendant glowed. He walked down the hallway and out of the castle, a slew of soldiers dressed in orange stood outside of the gates. They jumped to attention as they saw their commanding officer arrive.
“At ease.” he muttered as he looked them over. “Where have you been?” he said in a accusing tone.
One of the soldiers walked forwards and bowed to Daemon, “There was resistance in getting here. Jonothan D’Brau holds a sorceress in his power.”
“And this stopped you?” he warned them.
“She was powerful, Commander, we lost many men.” he tried to explain.
“I do not approve of failure.” he scoffed at them.
The solider returned to his place.
“I do not want to hear any of your feeble excuses. The next time this happens you will all be executed.” he walked up and down the front line. “If you can not be prompt then you have no right to live. I was here on time, Sertoffs’ troops were here on time. Run the entire length of this island and think about what you could have done to get here on time.” he ordered then walked towards the direction he had seen Sertoff and Jas walk in. “And don’t stop until I tell you to. You WILL learn who is in control here.”
