Original X-roads-2003

Casandra saw the boats as well, but her reaction was much different than her companion. She knew the horrors she had stopped here, all the victimization against women. She knew why these people fled their lands to come here. She was filled with compassion towards them. She would take them all in, teach those who are willing to farm, and others into whatever work they were accustomed to. They would integrate well into the society and help make it stronger on the whole.
“What will we do with the children?” Casandra asked as she noticed one boat filled with mostly children under the age of fifteen.
Dybin wasn’t concerned. “Send them back to their homelands, we can’t have them migrating here.”
Casandra was shocked, “Sending them back home would be sending them back to a fate worse than death!”
    Dybin shrugged, “kill them then.”
Cas couldn’t believe what she was hearing, “What?!?!”
Dybin calmly explained without taking her eyes off the boats. “It’s better off to kill them if sending them back where they came from is a fate worse than death then.”
“But we could make them citizens.” Cas interjected.
“We can’t have them coming here and taking away from our own, we barely have enough to go around as it is. it’s a mercy killing is all it is. nothing else can be done, it’s the most merciful thing for them. do it quickly now, better than having a long drawn out death from starvation.” Dybin turned her back to the coastline. “My men will not starve for the sake of these Recths. Put in the order to have the ships turned around, or I will put in the order to have them sunk.”
