In the Present…
Jonothan walked into the desert camp and noticed Casandra was gone. All the charmed men he had brought in were now as trained as the seasoned men.
Mark glanced over his shoulder at him as he approached. “Why is it you are here? I have not summoned you, nor do I desire be in your presence.”
“You know why I’m here.” Jonothan stood beside him.
“What it is you see in the stars that keeps you coming back to me?” Mark looked at the troops train. “Tell me, because I can see you fear only for the safety of the assassin. You care very little for my well being, at least I know I am safe.”
Jonothan said nothing for a while then stated, “I want to see her, and see that she is ok.”
“I want you to trust me.” Mark retorted. “Who here do you think will get what they want first?”
Jonothan’s eyes flashed in anger.
Mark turned to Jonothan, his tone took a deep serious tone. “What do you see?”
Jonothan said nothing and watched the troops.
Mark began to search Jonothan’s mind. He saw what disturbed the warlock, it was not hard to find. He loses the girl, but he does not know to whom. Whomever it is, she is not happy. Not truly happy, not happy the way Jonothan makes her happy. “Such a trivial thing to worry about, happiness.” Mark commented and turned back to the troops.
“You know nothing of these things.” Jonothan replied.
“Happiness is not essential to survival, no emotion is.”
