In the Future…

Meeset had to get back to her village, and she insisted that I come too and help the rebellion.
There was no map to lead us out of the city. At night the streets were deserted and monitored. I’d seen several curfew violators eradicated on sight. After a few days of thinking it over, we walked out past the fenced in courtyard. We headed in the direction I had been told Eit was in.
We received lots of sneers and disgusted looks as we walked the streets in the day, due to our clothing and lack of hygiene. When the whistles blew at night we found a place to take cover. I’m not proud to say one or two times we were so hungry we stole food from the trash that we saw someone throw out after a short lunch break.
With no way to buy food, make money, or barter for anything I had to take whatever I found, or was given to me. Most of the time someone would take pity on us and hand over their lunch. Surviving on one meal a day wasn’t so hard, after all I did it most of the time on the road anyway.
After five days traveling we made it to the large concrete barriers that closed off the city to travelers. I stared at the obstacle for a few hours and made note of the camera positions. Cameras that had followed my every move since the day I arrived here, yet acted as if they never saw me.
