Original X-roads-2003

“It was no star that fell from the sky that day. Razus and I were too curious, we sought out the disturbance. What we found was a spaceship the size of the largest village you can imagine. And from this large ship emerged an even larger army, dressed in all black, with no minds of their own. They stood motionless, staring at nothing for days. Then when a man with long blonde hair emerged out in front of them, they sprung to life. We followed this large army as it took over Fradian, there was not even rubble left of the city after they had burned it to the ground. The men and boys were transformed into mindless soldiers by a pale skinned man with long black hair and eyes the color of the blue leaves. This army swept across the countryside, destroying everything in it’s path. I watched as my father and Kilji’s father were turned to slave soldiers.” Tears began to form in the corner of the old mans eyes, “I’ll never forget running to my father, wanting him to take me into his arms. All he did was stare straight ahead, he did not hear my cries or shouts. He did not feel the sting of my sharp boots against his leg as I kicked him repeatedly trying to wake him from this evil spell. We should never have gone there into the camp. We were spotted by the pale man with the solid blue eyes.”
The old man looked away into the fireplace. “I escaped, I ran when I saw him. My best friend was frozen by those eyes, I never saw him again. I stowed away on a ship bound for another shore, and ended up here on Heldinbur where I met my beautiful wife. I was ensnared by her loving eyes, and I have not regretted a day since.”
The old man shook his head for a moment then continued, “But before I arrived here, I joined the army of Noltaire. A group of travelers came from another planet to stop the man on Tehrat. One of the men in group was a demon who carried a blade darker than blindness, and from it’s blade he could summon Lightening. They defeated the man on Tehrat, but it was long after my service in the war was over. I never knew these foreigners, I was just a low level soldier meant to die on the battlefield. But I do remember the stories, and folklore, that demon did not travel alone. The people he traveled with were just as evil as the man they defeated.”
“They used evil to stop evil.” Rasfar contemplated the idea.
