Original X-roads-2003
Naomi gasped a the beauty of it.
Jamie could now see everything clearly, the stones lit up to the brightness of daytime. They stood on a large patch of solid grey ground. He could see the waterfall in the distance, the top of it seemed to come out of the grey wall in a sort of slot type opening. He ran forward til he reached the edge of the ground. There was a large pool at the edge of the waterfall, and a river extended just beyond the pool.
Jamie reached down without a thought, cupped his hand and drank some water.
Mark said nothing.
“This is it?” Naomi questioned. “This is the water?”
“Yes.” Mark replied. “Drink it and you will not age for thousands of cycles.”
“How much do ya have ta drink.” Jamie felt shaky and looked at his wet palm.
“Only a drop.” Mark replied. “Some people have said you need only swim in it.”
Naomi raced down to the water and opened up her canteen. She poured the water in it out on to the ground and filled it from the river. She cupped her hand and drank several handfuls, just to be sure. She then stood and looked at Mark, “Can’t you teleport my men down here so we can fill up the casks? This stuff will sell for a fortune.”
“I’m afraid your men are disposed of.” Mark replied.
“What?!?” Naomi screeched. It had been a trap!
“Your ship is now part of the Kilji fleet.” He said with no emotion.
Jamie stood up and walked towards Naomi.
“You knew about this.” Naomi accused Jamie.
“I did not!” Jamie protested.
“If you only you would have been satisfied living the life you always dreamed.” Mark said to Jamie. “Then you would not be in the predicament you are in today.”
Jamie felt his insides turn, “Whut are ya talkin bout?”
“Tsk tsk tsk.” Mark shook his head. In a flash of bright white light Jamie disappeared.
“Bring him back!” Naomi stepped forward.
“You have bigger concerns to worry about than Jamie.” Mark said to her and white light enveloped them. “You need to worry about yourself.” he finished saying as they now stood in Kilji’s throne room.
Naomi was surrounded by Kilji’s personal guards.
Kilji looked very pleased with himself, he was practically salivating imagining what he would do with his new plaything.
Naomi narrowed her eyes at Mark, he had sold her out.
