Original X-roads-2003
Once we reached the shore I noticed a whole new fleet of ships docked there, the Robe really knew what he was doing. We boarded one and set sail for the continent Jemand.
We set docked at Nelve, just your run of the mill port town. Set up with rows of shacks once inside, hand painted signs, daily discounts.
We split up as we walked past the end of the dock, Jabetto and Mesiaha one way, Jamie and myself the other. We went down the second row, to the left. A shop caught my eye, ‘Jumpers 20% off’.
I immediately went inside, The shop keeper was thin, dressed in rags practically. Dingy white shirt, brown ratted vest, darkened tan, sunk in black eyes, mustache… But his attention didn’t keep me for long as I noticed a watch sitting on a display.
“Good Evening.” he rushed to the display as I set my hands on it.
“What is this?” I asked looking at it. No bigger than a mans watch, it had two dials on the side with a button above them. Small windows on the face showed what the dials were set at.
“This is the latest technology in this line of Jumpers. He took it from my hands and showed it off as he took it off it’s stand. “You see, you just turn these dials to where you wish to go, push this little button and you’re there.” He moved the dials, and motioned to the button. “It has the capability of long range travel, never possible before.”
“Is it pre-programmed?”
“Yes, it is programmed with all the known universes, over three hundred and sixty combined with instant access to hundreds more.”
“How many people can it transport?”
“Up to six at a time, but they all have to be touching each other.”
“Hmmm…” I looked at it closely.
