Pathway to Destiny

In the Present…

Casandra walked from the officers quarters towards the mess hall when she heard strange mechanical whirring. She turned around and saw Sevec walking.
Sevec Malto, was Mark’s assistant. The reason he was more mechanical than organic now was due to his being brought into battle zones when he wasn’t a trained soldier. He could aim and shoot with a blaster, he could even hit the target ninety percent of the time. He lost his right hand in the battle of Jahns, she knew because she was there. Mark had him sent off and new mechanical hand was permanently attached. His left eye was at Fanak, he had a binoculous implant put in. It was what improved his aim from ten percent to ninety, but even that couldn’t keep him safe from the perils of war.
Sevec smiled as he approached Casandra, “It’s been a long time.”
“How have you been?” she asked as the two walked together towards the mess tent.
Sevec wanted to tell her about Jabetto and Jamie, but he knew he could not. Casandra would be able to help him put the pieces of the puzzle together, but she would then want to stop Mark from whatever his plans were. He couldn’t let that happen. “I have been busy overseeing the troop training schedules.”
Cassandra congratulated him, “The soldiers do all seem quite well trained.”
“Thank you.” Sevec walked through the line with Casandra even though he could not eat solid foods anymore. He ate the same protein paste the soldiers ate. It was bland, but it caused no malfunctions with his bio-mechanical insides.
