Fantasmal
There was a long walkway bridge that spanned the entire lake. Some people rented fishing gear and walked down the bridge to fish off it. Daniel walked the entire length of the bridge to the other side of the lake. The entrance to the Train Station was to the right, the park stretched out into rolling green hills on the left.
The Train Station would take you to another destination of your choice. He walked to the destination board and read the places out loud. “Davenport, a small suburb community with family homes. Hillsbough, a bustling urban hub of club entertainment and socializing. Carlsband, a nomadic oasis surrounded by shifting desert sands. Kincha, a small remote village hidden deep within a rainforest. Bosco, lunar outpost near the outer rings of an unexplored planet.”
A young woman walked over to the sign and stood beside Daniel as he read aloud. “You can get to Frias, Holdar, and Meestan from the Bosco station.” she studied the sign for a moment then stated, “And Friar Start, Kindred Hall, and Buusto from the Kincha Station.” she rolled her eyes and shook her head as she looked over at Daniel, “Those are the only ones that even interesting.”
“Where are you going?” Daniel asked.
The young woman looked over at the park’s rolling hills, “I was going to fly a kite.” She looked back at Daniel, “But you look lost.”
Daniel smiled at her.
She smiled back.
“I’ll go where ever you’re going.” Daniel said. Then everything went dark. There was no park, no birds singing, and no beautiful brunette with sandy colored eyes smiling back at him at the train station. “What the…!” Daniel screamed.
“Time Expired. Time Expired. Time Expired.”
Daniel pulled the headset off and looked at his system. “What?!?!” he shouted at the machine. Then the clock caught his eye on the wall, he’d been in there six hours.
Daniel glanced down at the machine, he hadn’t even noticed the time. He felt like he’d only been gone thirty minutes.
